was born in Japan. She studied traditional folk music in Kyoto. Since arriving in Canada, Aki has continued to collaborate with numerous artists from a variety of cultural backgrounds and disciplines.

In 2003, She became a member of Canada's pre-eminent taiko drumming NAGATA SHACHU. The group has performed widely in theatres, concert halls and festivals throughout Canada, the US and Europe. She has performed with numerous artists from a variety of other cultural backgrounds and traditions. She also creates her own, original compositions. She has choreographed dance pieces to accompany her music, and has produced music for both film and the stage.

Aki currently teaches taiko drumming to local groups Isshin Daiko and RAW as well as at the Royal Conservatory of Music.
